Things are great in 2010!
Sorry for not staying updated after Christmas! Time flies and now I am already into the fourth week of school, I cant believe it! I am getting over a bad throat/sinus infection that I have dealt with for about a week but the antibiotics are startin to really kick in thank goodness. I have been feeling great though ever since the Boston trip both physically and spiritually! The grace of God is still so overwhelming and the power of prayer is just amazing. I have tried to explain to a few people the feeling while facing the surgery and how I absolutely felt covered in prayers. It's an unexplainable feeling but an awesome one at that! I could feel the hand of the Lord on me at all times so I cannot thank you enough for the prayers and continued prayers from everyone! I love telling the story and hope to share it even more in the future! I absolutely love my social work classes this semester, they are great! I had a great experience yesterday, for those of you who have seen the movie Patch Adams, you know that he was a man who went to med school (in the late 1960's I believe) and found that laughter and fun brings a new sense of healing power to those who are sick. Well I had the opportunity to meet John Glick who went to med school with Patch and is now involved and partners with him in the Gesundheit Institute which is an organization that travels the world and does "clowning," exactly what you see in the movie, and also brings free medical attention to certain areas in need. We heard stories and learned the basics of "clowning" and will be going to a rehab center next week to put what we learned into action! Aside from this being something so great, I was truly touched when he spoke about the power of having a social network of support and laughter to help people get through illnesses and medical problems. If it were not for my phenomenal family and friends who brought laughter to me daily when I was in the hospital I cant imagine the mind set that I would be in now, and of course my faith and relationship with the Lord that only strengthened. I thrive off all the encouragement and support from everyone and just cant wait to do that for others! I can just feel that God has a great plan for me and I cannot wait! Love and Hugs to all! Lauren - Jeremiah 17:7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him."
